In 1995 E.C. the College was established by the cooperation of the government and communities of the environment. The reason for the establishment of the College is due to the high demand of the community. The College began a training program with 3 occupations namely; Hotel & Tourism, Accounting, and Garment & Textile. The number of trainees was 42. During that time the numbers of Trainers& Administrative Staffs were 5 and 4 respectively.
Agena Poly Technic College runs initially trainees training Program for in Accounting, Hotel management and Textile technology. It has started conceptualizing and organizing other short and long term programs that will further support the selected priority sector in particular the Agricultural, Industries and service sector. Currently it has seven/7/ departments with 21 occupations and more than 739 trainees and 60 trainers with 39 supportive staffs.
Our college aim to develop its current training program up to level-5 in 2016 E.C for playing a significant economical& social development role and contributes a positive effects of our country to verify reduction of poverty of our country by producing competent and self-confident citizen.
Our college deliver quality training to produce self-employable middle level & higher technical competent workforce quantitatively & qualitatively that are equipped with technological skills and knowledge that plays a significant role in poverty reduction and economic growth of country through demand driven and outcome based training by organizing human & material resource and capacitate SMEs by industry extension service and by transferring technologies that save time, effort and cost based on regional institution training strategies and plan.
The main objectives of our college is to deliver quality training in both formal and informal training programs through project based training and produce lower and middle level and higher technical competent trainees qualitatively and quantitatively to achieve regional and national growth plan. Capacitate SMEs by industry extension service and by transferring technologies that solve the problems, save time, effort and cost of farmers and other community.
Agena Poly Technic College is located in Agena City, Agena City Administration, Ezha Woreda, Gurage Zone, Central Ethiopia Region, and the college was established in 1995 in collaboration with the Gurage Zone Community. In order to achieve its vision and mission to produce skilled manpower and produce qualified graduates, the college is providing quality training in market oriented professions for wage and self-employed generations. The college also aims to become a center of excellence in producing skilled manpower, creating problem-solving technologies and enhancing the quality of small and micro enterprises. Currently, the college along with cluster colleges is taking responsibility for the challenge presented by Gurage Zone Government by developing technical competence, innovation of new technologies, sustainable development and institutional capacity to improve industrial and agricultural demand.
